KickAssVPS.com Introduces Cloud Virtual Private Servers

ST. PAUL, Minn. (August 11, 2011)–- KickAssVPS.com, a leader in Linux and Microsoft Windows Virtual Private Server hosting and Cloud Services, today introduced Cloud Virtual Private Servers, boasting an array of high-performance and customization options.

Cloud Virtual Private Servers from KickAssVPS offer more than 30 operating system templates, hot failover protection, and nearly instant scalability. In fact, in the event of a hardware outage or other service disruption, the Cloud infrastructure can automatically heal itself by utilizing other available computing resources in real-time.

“A key tenet of our business is continually bringing the best technology to our customers when the time is right. Cloud Virtual Private Servers are an exciting and necessary evolution in hosting technology. While we have for many years utilized virtualization technology to maximize performance and minimize cost, our Cloud Virtual Private Servers take this to a new level, and offer an unprecedented level of scalability, reliability, and of course, affordability,” said Brian Emerson, president of KickAssVPS.

Cloud Virtual Private Servers start at just $19 per month on a Linux-based platform, and $39 per month on Windows-based platform. In the ordering process, users can customize RAM, CPU cores, disk space allotments, port speed, and select from optional nightly data backups. What’s more, all Cloud Virtual Private Servers offer – at no additional charge – the ability to remotely manage the server via an iPhone or iPad application, delivering unrivaled ease of use.

Earlier this summer, KickAssVPS launched its affiliate program. The program is open to both existing customers and other individuals interested in helping to grow KickAssVPS.com, and offers generous rewards and compensation for participating affiliates. In fact, affiliates receive an instant $10 deposit into their account just for signing up, and earn a staggering commission of 20 percent of every payment made by a referred customer for the duration of the hosting account.

OnApp Hosts Presentation by FortressITX CEO Jason Silverglate at HostingCon

SAN DIEGO – August 9, 2011 - CEO of FortressITX and chief architect of the FortressITX Cloud, Jason Silverglate, will be presenting his thoughts and ideas on the benefits of virtualizing complex hosting environments at HostingCon, in San Diego, Calif. this week.

For the past seven years, Jason and his team have been building and maintaining complex dedicated server environments for ecommerce companies. “We’ve learned allot about supporting and maintaining clusters and load balanced setups during that time,” says Silverglate. “For starters, scalability is a problem with physical clusters. You can’t expand resources at a moment’s notice. Servers need to be brought down for upgrades, planning needs to go into making these kinds of changes.” With the expansion of cloud technology, many of the constraints within the physical world are done away with.

Jason and his team have been developing their cloud technology for the past two years from the company’s New Jersey based datacenter. A cornerstone of that development has been improving on some of the downfalls of complex hosting. Jason commented on the benefits of the shift to virtualization, “When we move a complex setup to a virtual environment, we lose those physical constraints. We can scale horizontally and vertically and for less money.”

Ditlev Bredahl, CEO of OnApp, has worked with FortressITX throughout the development of their cloud. Bredahl remarks, “I’m impressed by the significant investments Fortress has made into their SAN infrastructure. When speaking with our own clients, I often recommend that they take a look at the storage technology that Jason and FortressITX have designed, before investing in their own.” Silverglate claims that the company’s SAN storage is capable of performance that most never thought possible in a virtualized environment, due to its unique architecture.

Jason will be presenting his ideas on virtualization at the OnApp booth (#313) on Tuesday, Aug. 9th at 11:45AM and again on Wednesday, Aug. 10th at 12:45PM.

CloudLinux Receives FindMyHost Editor’s Choice Award

Ann Arbor, MI, July 26, 2011 – Cloud Linux Inc., an innovative software company dedicated to serving hosting companies, is the recipient of the July 2011 Editor’s Choice Award from FindMyHost.com. CloudLinux™ received the award for its ability to isolate individual websites on a multi-tenant server using Lightweight Virtual Environment™ (LVE) technology and for its focus on shared hosting providers.

CloudLinux was launched in early 2010 and is the only commercially supported server operating system proven to increase server density, stability and performance, helping customers realize reduced operating costs and increased profitability. Cloud Linux invented the Lightweight Virtual Environment™ a kernel-level technology that isolates specific hardware resources in a lightweight environment and prevents one tenant on a shared server from affecting others – especially due to a sudden peak load from a single tenant. The technology is designed to eliminate the risk of an unstable server that can undermine operations and profitability.

“Shared hosting providers have a unique set of needs and they require a solid infrastructure that can be managed easily and effectively for complex and multi-tenant environments,” states Igor Seletskiy, CEO and Founder of Cloud Linux Inc., “We built CloudLinux to give hosting providers the control they need to protect customers from outages frequently caused by individual tenants. This award is a gratifying validation of the work we are doing and our team is greatly honored to receive this Editor’s Choice Award.”

CloudLinux is already installed on more than four thousand production servers. It is compatible with all major hosting control panels, including, cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, ISPmanager and InterWorx control panel products, as well as with Apache and LiteSpeed web servers. It is also used as a base for Parallels Web Hosting Next Generation platform. CloudLinux™ is the only server OS sold, supported, and distributed by cPanel.

HostingArmor Releases First cPanel Security Scanning Plugin

ORLANDO, Fla. – July 25, 2011 - Security as a Service scanning provider, HostingArmor, today announced the release of the world’s first server security scanning plugin for cPanel.

The HostingArmor platform was released to the public last August. HostingArmor is a highly customized server security scanning system, based on the commercial Nessus feed. The system allows the user to add “targets” to scan, which can be domains or IP addresses. Security analysis reports are generated at customizable frequency (daily/weekly/etc) and the results are available in PDF form or via a web interface, which allows the user to sort reports by many filters such as security level, date, specific target, target groups, and many others.

With the cPanel plugin, the HostingArmor team is targeting the web hosting resale market. “We want to make it as easy as possible for web hosts to provide access to scan reports for their clients,” said HostingArmor co-founder JoshEwin.

HostingArmor has focused on functionality and flexibility for resellers since its launch last year. Resellers can white label the HostingArmor interface and security seal, tie in their own applications through HostingArmor’s API and resell HostingArmor service using simple API keys.

The cPanel plugin takes HostingArmor’s service and reach into the reseller market to a new level. Using HostingArmor’s API key, web hosts provide their end users with access to the HostingArmor service through the cPanel interface. The user enters a key into a domain he wishes to scan. Once a valid key is entered into the cPanel module, a security scan on that domain will initiate shortly after. If the admin has allowed the end user to enter an email address, the client will receive a pdf report at that email address when the scan completes. The PDF reports are also available for download from within the cPanel module for the client’s convenience. Included with the HostingArmor cPanel plugin is a website security scan seal, which end users can display on their website to increase consumer confidence.

For pricing and more information about the HostingArmor cPanel plugin, visit http://www.hostingarmor.com.

About HostingArmor

HostingArmor is a privately held website security scanning company. The company was founded by professionals from the web hosting industry that saw and understood the problem caused by a broad absence of adequate security and security information across most websites. HostingArmor was created as an easy way for both network engineers and executives to understand the security status of high-volume e-commerce websites quickly and accurately. Using HostingArmor is fast and simple: all you have to do is provide your website address (or IP) and click submit. It’s really just that simple.
